Precise Temperature Measurement in the Plastics Industry: Ensuring Quality with Infrared Thermography
In plastics production and processing, exact temperature control is the decisive key to product quality, material properties, and cost-efficiency. Whether melting, forming, welding, or curing – thermoplastic and elastomeric processes do not tolerate any deviations.
DIAS Infrared GmbH offers tailor-made systems for non-contact, real-time temperature measurement. Our highly developed infrared cameras, line cameras, and software solutions are specifically designed for the extreme requirements and harsh environments found in industrial plastics processing.
Smart Measurement Technology for Complex Processes: PYROVIEW, PYROLINE, and PYROSOFT
To meet the challenges of various component geometries and fast cycle times in industrial production, we combine high-precision hardware with intelligent evaluation software “Made in Germany”:
-
PYROVIEW Infrared Cameras: Our stationary thermal imaging cameras monitor two-dimensional temperature distributions in real time. They are ideal for monitoring dynamic processes and achieving pixel-precise detection of thermal hotspots or cold spots.
-
PYROLINE Infrared Line Cameras: Specifically developed for continuous processes and web materials, our line cameras capture precise temperature profiles perpendicular to the material’s direction of movement – perfect for wide production lines.
-
PYROSOFT Automation Software: The digital brain of our systems. The software evaluates infrared data within milliseconds, controls integration into existing PLC environments (Industry 4.0), and ensures seamless quality monitoring through automated accept/reject (good/bad) decisions.
Our specialized application reports demonstrate how versatile industrial thermography from DIAS Infrared is when deployed in real-world manufacturing environments:

Linoleum manufacturing

Thermography for film weld seams

1. Quality Assurance of Foil Sealing Seams (Packaging Industry)
In high-speed cycle sequences, the correct temperature determines the tightness of sealing and welding seams on foil packaging. Our system solution – consisting of a PYROVIEW thermal imaging camera and PYROSOFT Automation software – monitors the thermal signature of the seam (width, thickness, temperature) every second. Defective packaging is detected immediately and automatically rejected via the I/O system before it leaves the production chain.

2. Process Monitoring in Linoleum Production (Web Materials)
The manufacturing of linoleum requires an absolutely homogeneous temperature distribution across the entire web width to prevent material defects during calendering and curing. This is where the PYROLINE infrared line camera is utilized. It scans the moving material web without contact and provides continuous temperature profiles. The result: optimized energy efficiency, stable processes, and minimal waste in production.
