DDIAS thermal imaging cameras and pyrometers can be operated thanks to new ATEX housings in potentially explosive environments

Wherever flammable materials are manufactured, processed, stored, transported or loaded, potentially explosive environments may arise. Such endangered places are found for example in the chemical, wood, pharmaceutical and textile industries, but also in mining and in warehouses for grain or other fine dusty materials. Gas, mist, vapor or dust are explosive substances which, in combination with oxygen and an ignition source, may cause an explosion. Ignition sources can range from sparks, arcs, hot surfaces, flames and hot gases to lightning strikes, electromagnetic waves, electrical equipment and static electricity.

From now on, DIAS Infrared has an ATEX housing in pressure-resistant encapsulation with germanium windows (hard carbon anti-glare), which is preferably suitable for the integration of infrared cameras and pyrometers in the long-wave infrared range (LWIR, 8 μm to 14 μm) , These are the PYROVIEW 380L and PYROVIEW 640L thermal imagers from DIAS as well as the PYROSPOT 10 and 44 series LWIR pyrometers. The housing complies with the specifications

II 2G Ex db IIC T6 Gb and
II 2D Ex tb IIIC T85°C Db, Ta -40°C to +60°C

with a high degree of protection in a gas or dust explosion hazard zone 1 (ATEX zone 21). The housing has a built-in heater and an optional sunshield. The use is possible indoors and outdoors. The data is transmitted via the Ethernet interface on the PYROVIEW thermal imagers. For the pyrometers of the PYROSPOT series 10 and 44 both the RS485 interface and the current output are available for the measured value output.

A second ATEX housing is equipped with a sapphire window and is suitable for pyrometers of the PYROSPOT series 10 and 44, which operate in the wavelength range from about 0.8 μm to over 4 μm (near and middle infrared range NIR / MWIR). This housing owns with its specification

II 2G Ex d e IIC T5 Gb, Ta -20°C to +60°C

also a high degree of protection for a gas explosive zone 1. The housing has a remote integrated connection box, which allows to connect the connection cable in the unlocked state.
